Jennifer Alterman, DVM, DAVDC

Dr. Jennifer Alterman is a Board-Certified Veterinary Dentist® with over a decade of advanced clinical experience in dentistry and oral surgery — and she’s now bringing that expertise to Atlanta Veterinary Dentistry.
Dr. Alterman earned her DVM from the University of Florida and completed a rotating internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, DC. She then practiced primary care and emergency medicine in Atlanta before discovering her passion for dentistry. She completed her specialty residency in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver, CO, and has spent the last 10 years providing advanced dental and surgical care exclusively in that specialty.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Alterman is a nationally recognized educator — serving as a Lead Instructor for the International Veterinary Dentistry Institute (IVDI), teaching wet labs and lectures across the country, serving on the Credentials Committee of the American Veterinary Dental College, and instructing at the Veterinary Dental Forum.
She is licensed in Georgia, Utah, and Virginia, and is eligible for licensure in all 50 states and Canada.

Dr. Brett Beckman is a board-certified veterinary dental specialist who sees patients in Atlanta and Orlando. He is a 1987 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University and a past president of the American Veterinary Dental Society. Notably, Dr. Beckman is the only veterinarian to hold Diplomate status in both the American Veterinary Dental College and the American Academy of Pain Management. He has numerous publications in the fields of veterinary dentistry, oral surgery, and pain management and is a celebrated international speaker.
Dr. Beckman is the founder and managing director of the International Veterinary Dentistry Institute (IVDI). The Institute’s Veterinary Dentistry Practitioner program provides comprehensive training to veterinarian and technician teams globally, ensuring the highest standards in general practice dentistry.
Outside his professional realm, Dr. Beckman cherishes moments with Lecia, his wife of 41 years, and their daughter Lauren. Their shared passions include gardening, cooking, nature photography, hiking, fitness, and golf.
