Crowns (caps) are placed on teeth in dogs to protect the tooth, restoration on the tooth or both.

Barack fractured his left lower canine tooth. A root canal was required to remove the dying pulp and the fracture site restored. A crown was used to protect the seal at the fracture site.

Many of our patients are law enforcement canines who detect bombs, drugs or help their officer/trainers apprehend criminals.

Some patients chew fences or crates and wear the back portion of the canine teeth making them prime for fracture. ¾ crowns are placed in these dogs to prevent further wear and eventual fracture.

Although crowns look menacing or cool, depending on your perspective, they are placed solely for tooth or restoration protection.
